Ash Chawla Recipient of OSU Distinguished Alumni Award

 

Amidst a cheering crowd of OSU alumni, faculty, friends and family, Mr. Ash Chawla, MS, RPh accepted the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy on May 5, 2006.

Ash is Chairman & CEO of PDM Healthcare. Prior to starting PDM in 1991, he served in top management positions at University Hospitals of Cleveland, the Greater Cleveland Hospital Association, and Metrohealth Medical Center.

Ash was honored for many of his contributions to the college and the community, particularly in advancing the practice of pharmacy. More specifically, Ash's leadership at PDM has been instrumental in creating formulary management, volume purchasing, supply chain management, interdisciplinary profession education, and other services that have allowed pharmacists to remain profitable and an integral part of the healthcare community.

In his acceptance speech, Ash noted the impact his education at OSU has had on his career: "OSU taught me the importance of social

responsibility and community involvement, themes that reflect the spirit of the college and its leadership. I have incorporated these values into my career, having served on various community and industry boards and supported many charities…My achievements are just one component of the College's overall contributions to the community. When you consider all of our distinguished alumni and faculty, and the research and clinical achievements they have realized, you see the enormous impact the OSU College of Pharmacy has made on the [healthcare] industry."
