PDM Healthcare Launches New Initiative

 

PDM Healthcare launched a new initiative, the Virtual Diabetes Care Interchange, which was unveiled by Miss America 1999, Nicole Johnson at PDM MedExpo & BioLink 2006 and will be fully functional by the beginning of 2007. Ms. Johnson, a diabetic patient herself and an international diabetes spokesperson, lobbyist, and fund-raiser, used her talk to launch the Virtual Diabetes Care Interchange.

This endeavour connects businesses and practitioners to create increased awareness of the dangers of diabetes, diagnosis, and the need for proper management to prevent the disease’s chronic complications and devastating toll on both patients and the healthcare system.

Miss America stressed the importance of PDM’s effort to raise awareness of this disease and provide practitioners with tools to combat it. She gave her own example of the hardships that misdiagnosis of the disease caused in her own life and the efforts individuals and families must make to deal with the disease.

PDM Healthcare is in a unique position to help fill this need because we maintain close working relationships with product manufacturers, clinicians, public health officials, and policy makers. PDM envisions the Virtual Diabetes Care Interchange as a community-based endeavor, this event will strive to meet the needs of diverse communities in the region, especially communities at high risk for diabetes and diabetic complications.
